Blue jays are intelligent and striking birds native to eastern and central North America. Known for their vibrant blue, black, and white plumage, they are also highly vocal, exhibiting a wide range of calls, including mimicking other birds and even human sounds. These omnivorous birds forage for nuts, seeds, insects, and sometimes even small vertebrates. Blue jays play an important role in forest regeneration by caching acorns, often forgetting some, which then sprout into new oak trees. They are social creatures, often living in family groups and fiercely defending their territory.
