Joe Theismann is a former NFL quarterback, best known for leading the Washington Redskins to a Super Bowl XVII victory in 1983. He played college football at Notre Dame, where he was a Heisman Trophy runner-up. After a stint in the Canadian Football League, Theismann joined the Redskins in 1974 and became their starting quarterback in 1978. His career was tragically cut short in 1985 when he suffered a compound fracture of his tibia and fibula during a Monday Night Football game. Following his playing career, Theismann transitioned into broadcasting, working as a football analyst for ESPN and other networks. He is also a successful entrepreneur and motivational speaker.
