The Washington Nationals are a professional baseball team based in Washington, D.C., competing in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member of the National League (NL) East division. Originally founded as the Montreal Expos in 1969, the team relocated to Washington in 2005. The Nationals have won the NL East division title five times (2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2019) and captured their first World Series championship in 2019, defeating the Houston Astros. The team plays its home games at Nationals Park, located in the Navy Yard neighborhood of the city.
