Stacey Abrams is an American politician, lawyer, voting rights activist, and author. She served in the Georgia House of Representatives for 11 years, including as Minority Leader from 2011 to 2017. Abrams gained national prominence during her 2018 campaign for Governor of Georgia, which she narrowly lost. Following the election, she founded Fair Fight Action, an organization dedicated to promoting fair elections and combating voter suppression. Her efforts are widely credited with helping to increase voter turnout in Georgia, particularly among minority communities, and contributing to the Democratic victories in the 2020 presidential election and subsequent Senate runoffs. She ran for Governor again in 2022 but was unsuccessful.
