Gregg Berhalter is an American soccer coach and former player who currently serves as the head coach of the United States men's national team (USMNT). As a player, he was a defender who represented the USMNT at two FIFA World Cups and played professionally in Europe for over a decade. His coaching career includes stints at Hammarby IF in Sweden and Columbus Crew SC in Major League Soccer (MLS), where he won the MLS Cup in 2020. Berhalter was initially appointed USMNT coach in 2018, leading them to victory in the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup and qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup before a brief departure and subsequent re-appointment in 2023.
