Peacemaker, created by Joe Gill and Pat Boyette, is a DC Comics character known for his extreme and paradoxical dedication to achieving world peace, even if it means resorting to violence. First appearing in 1966, he's a heavily armed vigilante who believes he can only bring peace by eliminating anyone he perceives as a threat, often fueled by a deep-seated psychological trauma and a distorted sense of justice. While initially a Charlton Comics character, Peacemaker was later acquired by DC and has been reimagined in various forms, most recently gaining mainstream popularity through James Gunn's "The Suicide Squad" and his own eponymous HBO Max series. He represents a darkly satirical commentary on the complexities and contradictions of pursuing peace through violent means.
