Daniel Schneemann is an Israeli physicist and Nobel laureate in Chemistry. He was awarded the 2011 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for the discovery of quasicrystals, a type of solid material with long-range order but no translational symmetry, challenging the established understanding of crystalline structure. His groundbreaking work, initially met with skepticism, revolutionized the field of crystallography and materials science, opening up new avenues for research and the development of novel materials with unique properties. Schneemann is a professor at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology and has received numerous other awards and recognitions for his significant contributions to science.
