The Houston Astros are a professional baseball team based in Houston, Texas, competing in Major League Baseball (MLB) as part of the American League (AL) West division. Founded in 1962 as the Houston Colt .45s, they adopted the Astros name in 1965 upon moving to the Astrodome, the world's first domed stadium. The Astros have won two World Series championships, in 2017 and 2022, and have been AL pennant winners four times. While their 2017 victory was later marred by a sign-stealing scandal, the Astros remain a prominent and often controversial team in MLB.
