U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is the largest federal law enforcement agency of the United States Department of Homeland Security. Its primary mission is to safeguard America's borders, protecting the public from dangerous people and materials while enhancing the nation's global economic competitiveness by enabling legitimate trade and travel. CBP officers enforce laws and regulations related to customs, immigration, and agriculture at ports of entry and along the borders, working to prevent terrorism, illegal immigration, and the trafficking of drugs, weapons, and other contraband. They also collect import duties and taxes, and enforce U.S. trade laws.
